Rare copy of the first edition of the dictionary of pomology by André Leroy, nurseryman, knight of the Legion of Honor, administrator of the Banque de France branch, former president of the Angers horticultural show, member of the horticultural societies of Paris, London, the United States and several other agricultural and learned societies in France and abroad. The first two volumes list pear varieties, while volumes 3 and 4 are devoted to apples; the last two volumes are devoted to stone fruits, apricots, cherries and peaches. Directory of 915 pear varieties, 527 apple varieties, illustrated in black. Spine of last volume detached. Mottling. Binding rubbed, corners dulled.
