LITERATURE] OVIDE/BENSERADE] Métamorphoses en rondeaux imprimez par ordre de sa majesté, Paris, imprimerie royale, 1677. One volume in-12 in full vellum: frontispiece, title, (6), 236 pages, (4) / Jouxte la copie imprimée à Paris [i.e. Amsterdam], de l'Imprimerie royale [i.e. Abraham Wolfgang], 1677 New edition illustrated (the first appeared the year before) with a frontispiece by Charles Le Brun (reproduction of a letter the engraver wrote to Benserade in connection with the frontispiece reproduced in the first few leaves). It was at the request of Louis XIV that Isaac de Benserade (1612-1691) wrote the Métamorphoses in the poetic form of the rondeau; Bookplate of Jean-Etienne de Meaux (1703-1763). Penmanship at the end of the book. Ink stain running across bottom of first few quires. Binding stained.
