Jean-Jacques LAGRENÉE (1739-1821).
Engraving in the wash style printed in bistre depicting various objects from Roman Antiquity forming a uniform picture.
Circa 1763.
H_21 cm W_23 cm, traces of folding, minor foxing, tiny tears, reduced to bowl level.
Prints of this series of engravings dedicated to Roman Antiquity, executed by the Master on his return from Rome between 1762 and 1764, are particularly rare. A proof from the same plate as our copy (Baudicour 228.48) is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, under inventory number 1999.2(2).
