Dish. Engraved, nielloed and enameled silver. Caucasus region, 19th century. D_23 cm. Gross weight: 801.96 grams, 800°/00 This silver dish features a large central medallion with a mirrored AL monogram, within a register of flowers and palmettes on a niello background. The finely guilloched border is adorned with a polychrome floral frieze between enameled dot friezes. This atypical dish was probably made to order, perhaps by a weapons and armor manufacturer who mastered the niello and enameling techniques.
