Achille LAUGÉ (1861-1944). - Lot 31
Achille LAUGÉ (1861-1944). Route de Cailhau en été - circa 1921-1922. Oil on pointillist canvas, signed lower left. H_54 cm W_73 cm In a modern gilded wood and beige fabric frame. Note: Achille Laugé was born on April 29, 1861 in Arzens (Aude), near Carcassonne, and died on June 2, 1944 in Cailhau (Aude), where he settled permanently after his father's death and where he painted most of his works. An artist deeply attached to his native Occitanie region, Laugé's singular path within the Neo-Impressionist movement is fascinating. In 1886, at the Salon des Indépendants, he discovered Georges Seurat's manifesto painting, Un dimanche après-midi à l'île de la Grande Jatte.
