Note: Georges Noël Germain Bédard, known as Georges Noël, born December 25, 1924 in Béziers and died November 26, 2010 in Paris, was a French painter, sculptor and draughtsman, as well as a major figure in abstract art from the post-war period until the 2000s. Although his work is closely related to informal art, gestural painting and matierism, Georges Noël has always chosen to preserve his independence from these artistic movements. Our work, dated 1963, is highly representative of his style. It features the incisions and superimpositions, assemblages and collages that were to be a constant feature of his work throughout his life, as well as his trademark automatic handwriting of long, uninterrupted, incisive strokes that scratch the material.
