PHILOSOPHY] MENDELS-SOHN (Moses)] Phaedo, or Conversations on Spirituality, Paris, Saillant, Bayeux, Lepelley 1772 One in-8 volume in full calfskin, smooth spine richly decorated with the title, XXIV, (2), 1 engraving, 342 pages, (2) Mendelssohn’s principal philosophical work, which was published in numerous editions across Europe and enjoyed widespread popularity, contributing to the emancipation of Jewish thought. The engraving, usually found as a frontispiece, is located in the center of the volume. Fragile binding. Hinges very loose. Handwritten bookplate. Numerous footnotes.
