First edition. Volume One (the only one published), containing the Presidents. The work is illustrated with copperplate-engraved and colored coats of arms and six insert plates: two black-and-white plates before the title page depicting a heraldic border and the coat of arms of the King of France and Navarre; the arms of the Nicolaÿ family as a frontispiece—in black for the first part and watercolored for the second; two plates illustrating heraldic principles in the Preface. Some wear to the headbands, with missing leather. Rubbed edges. Slight loss on the title page. Colors preserved. Rare.
