Robert COMBAS (born in 1957). - Lot 393
Robert COMBAS (born in 1957). Tiger's Head - 2007. "A funny little painting depicting a group of people and a particularly large panther. In reality, it's a mask that a president put on. In truth, it’s a portrait of Nicolas Sarkozy (from the head up), because I saw on TV during a show where UMP politicians were asked, ‘What animal does Nicolas Sarkozy remind you of?’ The most common answer was a panther (sometimes black).” Acrylic and tiger mask collage on canvas (slightly dented). H_81 cm L_65 cm In a molded wooden frame. Provenance: acquired in 2018 from Galerie Bertheas. Includes a duplicate certificate of authenticity from Galerie Bertheas (Saint-Étienne – Paris – Vichy). We thank the Robert Combas Archives, which confirmed the authenticity of this work and its archive number.
