Hot-water bottle table in veneer marquetry. The white marble top is framed by an openwork brass border. Louis XVI period. H_74.5 cm D_65 cm, damage to the marble. Probable provenance: General Oudinot, Duke of Reggio. A label mentions the presence of an inscription: “Mr. the Duke of Reggio, 44 Rue de Bourgogne,” found beneath the marble during restoration. Nicolas Charles Marie Oudinot, Duke of Reggio, born April 25, 1767, in Bar-le-Duc and died September 13, 1847, in Paris, was a French general during the Revolution and the Empire, elevated to the rank of Marshal of the Empire in 1809.
