CHINA, late Qing dynasty (1644-1911). Beautiful silk dignitary robe embroidered with gold silk and metallic threads on a deep blue ground, featuring eight dragons among clouds. The dress is adorned with the eight Taoist emblems (an ba xian), the flower basket for Lan Caihe under the central dragon. The lower part features diagonal stripes topped with waves. H_138 cm
